Dia de los Muertos is the day when you go to visit your dead relatives at the cemetary. Everyone buys flowers and makes elaborate arrangements out of them, goes to the cemetary and places them on the grave. Unfortunately, I missed the actual going to the cemetary part because my wifes aunt got sick and I had to take her to the doctor.
While I was waiting around I got some video of the door to door mattress salesman...

While I was sitting around I spotted these guys staggering down the street. Alcohol abuse is a major problem in Nicaragua and these guys had definately had their share...

| One of the things I wanted to mention about this trip is that the Sandinistas had people camped out in every rotunda in Managua waving flags and supporting their party. I have no problem with that. What I had a huge problem with is that at every rotunda they had huge banners that said something to the effect of "Stop the hate, support peace and love instead." It's hard to miss the irony of the party that calls itself the party of "peace and love" is the same party that has mobs called "turbas" that are going around the country attacking the opposition with sticks, stones, and machetes. It's a perfect example of how socialists think. If you don't agree with them you are a "hater" and "peace" is defined by brutally silencing your enemies. Afterall, most people are pretty "peaceful" after they've taken a rock to the skull. |
